About the position
A Pet Enrichment Specialist at Lucky & Lady® is a fun and rewarding position responsible for the enrichment, socialization and overall care of dogs enrolled in our Enhanced Day Care program. Part pet nanny, part pet trainer, part pet chef, part pet play pal – and total pet lover – a Pet Enrichment Specialist is fundamental in providing our cage-free day care service, which you will supervise.
As a Pet Enrichment Specialist, you’ll help to organize and supervise dog playgroups by size, breed and temperament, while facilitating play in a scheduled, structured and calm environment designed to enhance the lives of dogs. You’ll help to guide our four-legged guests to our indoor potty areas and, with our systems, you’ll be doing less cleanup and providing more opportunity for socialization.
You’ll get to know a lot of B*RKING COOL pets and your work will have a profound impact on every pet’s stay at Lucky & Lady® and our entire operation. Success in this position requires substantial patience, calm demeanor, solid command of dogs in groups, an understanding of our built-in barriers to animal stress, and a real interest in understanding the behavior of dogs. Simply put, to be successful in this position you need to understand and adore dogs.
Lucky & Lady® is not a kennel or a dog sitting service – we’re engagement and enrichment so pets can be their best. Pet Enrichment Specialists are vital to providing the safe care of pets and must be extremely attentive, responsible and patient.
Previous experience is preferred, but applicants must understand that Lucky & Lady® does not operate similarly. We expect complete, uncompromising attention will be given to our four-legged guests without exception. Personal mobile phones are not permitted while performing duties. As with all of our team members, remarkable trust and reliability are required. Expect that the pets in your care will come to know, understand and love you, and will “follow your lead.” This position is important.
While extremely awesome and rewarding, this position is physically and emotionally demanding, requiring keen observation and self control. Our standards are exacting and this is not the right position for someone who believes they already know the best methods to care for multiple pets from different families. If you are unwilling or incapable of learning and adopting new techniques, please do not apply.
Dependable attendance and reliable transportation are required. The role of Pet Enrichment Specialist is vital to our operation and preference will be given to candidates who possess a demonstrable understanding of pet behavior or those who are pet trainers. Pet Enrichment Specialists, like all team members, must be certified in canine and feline CPR and first aid and we will provide this training.
Depending upon the needs of the day, other responsibilities may include cleaning pet suites, feeding and caring for pets, walking dogs, bathing dogs, doing laundry, cleaning and maintaining the facility, and assisting others when necessary.
Required qualifications
- Must regard safety and security as the absolute highest priority
- Must have excellent communications skills
- Must demonstrate comfort and confidence in handling dogs and cats
- Must have previous experience managing dogs in a group or cage-free environment
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds regularly and 40 pounds occasionally
- Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time
- Must be eligible for employment in the U.S.
- Must simply love dogs
- Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
- All team members must be certified in canine and feline CPR and first aid and we will provide this training
Preferred qualifications
- Certification as a licensed veterinary technician
- Previous retail/sales experience
- Previous customer service experience
Lucky & Lady® team members are required to wear and maintain a clean uniform, some of which is provided. Lucky & Lady® is staffed 24/7/365. Team members are generally provided regular shifts but flexibility to work different shifts is required.
