About the position

You’ve got a great portfolio. You love providing top-notch attention to detail. Safety is your greatest priority. And you understand the mantra “We leave hair on everything.” If that describes you, you may be perfect for a Pet Stylist position at Lucky & Lady®. Here you’ll help to calm anxiety both in pets and their pet parents through clear communication, an outgoing and friendly demeanor, and with your talent to find the “show dog” in every pet.

We don’t get “ordinary.” This position requires creativity, demonstrable affection for dogs, and a career-minded candidate able to consult with clients and make recommendations. You will provide the very best customer experience and you’ll be empowered to ensure our clients are happy. Your ability to accommodate requests and alert pet parents to potential health problems will be essential to creating and maintaining our resort-like environment rooted in exceptional customer service and modern technologies. You’ll help to set the tone in our professional Grooming Spa, which is complete with electric, all-sides access tables. And you’ll be supported by a Concierge who will book client reservations and maintain scheduling.

Responsibilities include brushing, combing and cutting fur or hair in single- or double-coated dog breeds, bathing, ear cleaning, nail clipping, drying and styling. Guided by a team-driven attitude, the Pet Stylist must be able to navigate our client booking and management software and manage multiple projects at once. Must be willing and able to clean and sanitize equipment and tools in the Grooming Spa.

Depending upon the needs of the day, other responsibilities might include cleaning pet equipment, feeding and caring for pets, walking dogs, bathing dogs, doing laundry, cleaning and maintaining the facility, and assisting others when necessary.

 

Required qualifications

  • Must regard safety and security as the absolute highest priority
  • A portfolio demonstrating your work results
  • Ownership of professional grooming equipment/tools
  • Previous experience as a pet stylist/groomer or completion of a pet stylist’s apprentice program
  • Experience in large and small dog breeds
  • An exemplary safety record
  • Must have excellent communications skills
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds regularly and 40 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to stand and move for long periods of time
  • Must be eligible for employment in the U.S.
  • Must simply love dogs
  • Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
  • All team members must be certified in canine and feline CPR and first aid and we will provide this training

 

Preferred qualifications

  • IPG or similar certification
  • Cat grooming experience
  • Previous retail/sales experience
  • Previous customer service experience

 

Lucky & Lady® team members are required to wear and maintain a clean uniform, some of which is provided. Employment is evaluated within 60 to 90 days and qualified employees are eligible for salary increases and position elevations based upon performance, in addition to other incentives throughout employment. Lucky & Lady® is staffed 24/7/365. Team members are generally provided regular shifts but flexibility to work different shifts is required.
